Stage 9. Xunqueira de Ambía – Ourense (22 km)

Information

Very simple, short stage with no elevation changes that runs, for the most part, along the route of the OU-102 road from Xunqueira de Ambía, crossing small rural towns in the province of Ourense. The last stretch of the stage, as is common at the entrance to large cities, runs through residential areas and industrial warehouses. Today we arrive in Ourense where we will enjoy a pleasant afternoon visiting the city and, why not, a well-deserved bath in one of its thermal baths.

This stage is part of the The Sanabrian Way. Would you like to walk it with your accommodation already booked? These organised trips include it: Silver Route from Puebla de Sanabria to Ourense.

Ourense is a city split by the Miño river and stitched together by bridges, with a cathedral that holds the beautiful Pórtico do Paraíso, a tribute to the Pórtico de la Gloria, and an old town full of atmosphere and good food. And something no other city has: its hot springs. A relaxing soak in As Burgas or A Chavasqueira is a hard-to-match luxury.
