Information
Short stage and, although with moderate elevation changes, simple, presents us with two variants departing from Tábara: through Bercianos de Valverde or diverting to pass through Villanueva de las Peras, a slightly longer alternative if we wish to reach Santa Marta de Tera. During the journey, we will see curious wineries excavated in clayey soil. The cultural gem of the day will be the Romanesque church of Santa Marta de Tera, which preserves a beautiful stone statue of Santiago Peregrino, considered the oldest of the saint.
This stage is part of the The Sanabrian Way.
A friendly stage through holm-oak country. You leave Tábara beside the church of San Salvador and halfway along you choose: the official variant through Bercianos de Valverde, prettier, among vineyards and chestnut trees, or the one through Villanueva de las Peras, which has a bar. Both meet in Santa Croya de Tera, which even has a natural pool. In Santa Marta de Tera the oldest statue of Saint James the Pilgrim awaits.Photos
