booking conditions
Booking any of our products implies the customer's full acceptance of the general contracting conditions, subject to the following clauses:
- It is the customer's sole and exclusive responsibility to read and understand the general booking conditions prior to accepting them, as well as all documentation that the company sends for the proper provision of the contracted services.
- Viajes Camino de Santiago holds the mandatory civil liability insurance, in compliance with the legal regulations in force for travel agencies.
- Customers are informed that all prices of Viajes Camino de Santiago products, shown both on the website (www.viajescaminodesantiago.com) and in catalogues, information brochures or quotes, are valid except in the event of a typographical error, which may be corrected by the company in writing.
- The contracted services will be specified in detail in the catalogue or brochure of each of the different trips or products, provided that the customer has not requested a personalised quote. In that case, the contracted services will be fully detailed in the quote sent by the company to the customer prior to purchase.
- In the event of variations in the contracted services due to availability, such as the non-inclusion of a private bathroom in the hostel and guesthouse category, Viajes Camino de Santiago will inform the customer of the situation to request authorisation to make the booking according to the indicated service change. In the event of disagreement, the company will fully refund the total amount of the booking to the customer.
- The contracted accommodation will be arranged according to availability, always prioritising the places closest to the centre of each town available at the time of booking. Should lack of availability not allow this, accommodation outside the end-of-stage town will be assigned.
- The purchase of a product by the customer may be made through the purchase link on the website or by requesting a form from the company, through the various existing communication channels.
- Viajes Camino de Santiago reserves the right to reject or cancel the purchase within the 5 working days following the contracting of the service, proceeding to refund the full amount received.
- In connection with the above, should the customer purchase a trip with an imminent departure date that prevents it from being carried out, the customer is entitled to a full refund of the booking with no penalty.
Independent travel
To confirm the booking, the customer must make a deposit of 30% of the total amount. The remaining amount (70%) will be due as a second payment, to be completed no later than 20 days before the start of the trip.
Payment method
Viajes Camino de Santiago offers its customers the following payment methods: bank transfer, credit card or PayPal, with the latter carrying a 3% surcharge. Regarding the terms and methods of payment for a booking, the customer must take into account the following clauses:
- To confirm the booking of any of the products offered, the customer must make a deposit of 30%. The remaining amount will be due as a second payment.
- Split payment (30% + 70%) is only available by credit card and only when more than 20 calendar days remain before the start date of the trip.
- The remaining amount, which would complete the full price of the trip, must be paid by the customer no later than 20 calendar days before the contracted trip start date. Otherwise, the agency reserves the right to cancel the booking, with the customer losing the amount paid up to the date of their booking.
- The customer must at all times follow the booking instructions when making payment, complying with the rules regarding deadlines and the naming of concepts and references; otherwise the agency may not consider the booking valid.
- Should the agency be unable to offer the requested trip for reasons beyond its own organisation (date availability, bookings or other reasons…), Viajes Camino de Santiago may cancel the booking within 5 working days of receiving it, with the customer receiving a full refund of the booking deposit paid.
Organised group travel
To confirm the booking of an organised group trip, the customer must make a deposit of 30% of the total at the time of registration. The remaining 70% must be paid no later than 20 days before the start date of the trip.
Split payment (30% + 70%) is only available by credit card and only when more than 20 calendar days remain before the start date of the trip.
Booking modification
Should Viajes Camino de Santiago make modifications for various reasons, such as overbooking, lack of availability or others, these will be communicated to the customer as far in advance as possible, offering the options of accepting the service according to the notified changes or proceeding to change the booking dates at no additional cost. In the event of disagreement, the option to cancel the booking is offered, with the customer receiving a full refund of the amount paid to the agency.
The customer is entitled to request modifications to their booking, understood as: changes of dates, lead names, contracted services, supplements or other variants; up to a maximum of 15 calendar days before the start of the trip.
Modifications requested 15 or more days in advance
The following modifications are free of charge up to 15 calendar days before the start of the trip, with a maximum of one modification per booking:
- Change of contracted dates.
- Modification of room distribution.
- Modification of the contracted itinerary.
A second request of the same type will incur a charge of 15% of the total trip amount.
Adding more people will not entail any additional cost provided availability exists and it does not imply modifications to other aspects of the trip already contracted.
Modifications requested less than 15 days before the start of the trip
Less than 15 days before the start of the trip, modifications are subject to the following penalties:
| Days before the start | Penalty |
|---|---|
| Between 15 and 8 days | 50% of the total amount |
| 7 days or less | 100% of the total amount |
These same penalties apply in the event of cancellation within this period.
Please note that the consumer will be solely responsible for any additional costs arising from modifications to their booking.
Booking cancellation
Cancel for free up to 15 days before the start of your trip, with no need to give any explanation.
Any cancellation request must be notified in writing to Viajes Camino de Santiago at the email address info@viajescaminodesantiago.com (cancellations are not processed by phone). These conditions apply to all trip types (self-guided, organised group, and trips longer than 15 days):
- If the cancellation is made 15 days or more before the start of the trip, the company will refund the customer 100% of the amount paid, with no penalty and no need to give a reason. The refund is processed within a maximum of 7 days.
- If the cancellation is made less than 15 days before the start of the trip, no refund applies, except for the coverage of the cancellation insurance, if taken out.
Should the customer fail to show up for the trip and not notify the agency, they will not be entitled to any refund.
Viajes Camino de Santiago reserves the right to cancel or reject a booking within 5 working days of receiving it, for logistical or availability reasons, in which case it will fully refund the amount paid by the customer.
For group trips subject to a minimum number of participants, as specified in the product's features and details, Viajes Camino de Santiago may cancel the trip at least 30 days before the established start date; in that case, the customer may choose to modify the booking or to cancel it, receiving a full refund of the amount paid.
Transfer of booking
Should the customer decide to change the booking holder, they must notify it at least 5 working days before the trip date. It will be the contracting party's responsibility to settle payments with the replacement person, so that the agency remains uninvolved in this financial transaction between the participants.
Cancellation insurance
Viajes Camino de Santiago offers its customers the possibility of taking out the following cancellation insurance, which will cover cancellation costs for various contingencies, mainly medical, family or work-related reasons. It will be the insurance company, and not the travel agency, that is responsible for assessing and appraising the causes of the cancellation.
This cancellation insurance can only be taken out at the time of enrolment or booking of the trip, or within a maximum of 72 hours after the booking.
You can view the full cancellation insurance policy at:
If the customer takes out the cancellation insurance and needs to cancel their trip for reasons covered by the policy, they may obtain a refund up to a maximum limit of 100% of the booking, except for the amount paid for the insurance itself, which is non-refundable.
Despite having taken out this insurance, once the trip has begun, the suspension, modification or interruption of services, or voluntary withdrawal by the customer for personal or any other reasons, will not give rise to any refund of contracted and unused services.
Please note that Viajes Camino de Santiago will not be responsible for the refund if the insurer determines that the reasons for cancellation are not duly justified or are not covered by the policy taken out.
Tourist tax
No free cancellations will be made for reasons derived from COVID-19
Due to the end of the state of alarm and the pandemic caused by COVID-19, Viajes Camino de Santiago adheres to the regulations in force regarding force majeure causes derived from COVID-19. Therefore, all causes derived from COVID-19 that are not reflected in a medical report relegated to force majeure causes are invalidated, understanding as such causes those that clearly prevent the pilgrim from undertaking the trip.
Quote validity
Quotes issued by Viajes Camino de Santiago are valid for 25 days from their issuance, except for variations due to exceptional increases in costs external to the agency. After this period, the indicated prices may be subject to modification.
