Information
From Fuenterroble de Salvatierra begins the most mountainous stretch that the Vía de la Plata crosses in the province of Salamanca: 20.6 kilometres of open countryside with the climb to Pico de la Dueña, which comes close to 1,147 metres and is the high point of the day, and a long descent towards San Pedro de Rozados. It's a solitary stage, so set off with water and something to eat in your backpack.
Before lacing up your boots, in Fuenterroble you can see the church of Santa María la Blanca with its Puerta del Perdón, the Roman milestone column and the route's interpretation centre. On arrival, San Pedro de Rozados offers the calm of the Campo de Salamanca, its church of San Pedro from 1647 and a well-earned meal: Guijuelo ham and bollo maimón. You can cover this stretch with everything organised on the Vía de la Plata from Mérida to Salamanca.
