Stage 4. Mombuey – Puebla de Sanabria (31.7 km)

Information

Starting from this stage, we will notice a significant change in the landscape, which becomes more wooded and mountainous. Today's journey is long, with frequent ups and downs. We will depart from Mombuey, crossing the grove and following the axis of the N-525 road and the highway until we reach Puebla de Sanabria, where we will enjoy wandering through its beautiful medieval old town.

This stage is part of the The Sanabrian Way. Would you like to walk it with your accommodation already booked? These organised trips include it: Silver Route from Puebla de Sanabria to Ourense.

A long, quiet stage across the Zamora plateau. You leave Mombuey on a tree-lined path and string together charming villages: Valdemerilla, Cernadilla with its Baroque church, Palanzuelo, Entrepeñas and Asturianos. Then Palacios de Sanabria, Remesal and Triufé bring you close to the end. You cross the river Tera and climb to the old town of Puebla de Sanabria, crowned by the castle of the counts of Benavente.
