Information
Today we will continue walking from Torremejía to the magnificent city of Emérita Augusta, founded by the Romans long before the existence of the Camino de Santiago, which we now know as Mérida. The stage of just about sixteen kilometers will be completely flat and of little interest until we reach the Guadiana River, where the Roman city will welcome us at the end of the stage.
This stage is part of the Silver Route. Would you like to walk it with your accommodation already booked? These organised trips include it: Silver Way from Mérida to Salamanca and Silver Route from Seville to Mérida.
Mérida is an open-air Roman museum: the theatre and the amphitheatre, the temple of Diana right in the centre, the bridge over the Guadiana and a National Museum of Roman Art that deserves a long visit. The combined ticket covers almost every monument, and the terraces of the Plaza de España are the perfect spot to recharge.Photos
