From Valdesalor you soon reach Cáceres, whose old town is a World Heritage Site and is best enjoyed pushing the bike. The Vía de la Plata then continues through Casar de Cáceres, where you should try its torta cheese, and opens onto the dehesa as far as the Alcántara reservoir on the Tagus.
