A long, mountainous stage on the Camino Sanabrés: 33.2 kilometres setting out from Laza via Soutelo Verde and Tamicelas and tackling a solid climb of over 400 metres of ascent up to the cross at Alto do Talariño, at 965 metres, passing through A Alberguería. The terrain then opens out into the farmland plain of Vilar de Barrio and Bobadela, before descending to Xunqueira de Ambía.
Laza is the land of the Entroido, Galicia's oldest and most crowded carnival, and it keeps the church of San Juan. Xunqueira de Ambía rewards the effort with its stone old town and narrow streets, the collegiate church of Santa María la Real with its plateresque cloister, and the river beach on the Arnoia for tired legs.
