Stage 22. Avilés – Muros de Nalón (23.2 km)

Information

In the previous stage, from Gijón to Avilés, we crossed the point of Cape Peñas, and we can say that during this stage we entered fully into western Asturias to reach Muros de Nalón. Today we will have before us a stage full of continuous "ups and downs", so we will be grateful that it is a short stage.

This stage is part of the Northern Way. Would you like to walk it with your accommodation already booked? These organised trips include it: Northern Way from Ribadesella to Ribadeo.

A day of many villages and the odd urban stretch. You leave Avilés towards Salinas, where you briefly reunite with the sea, and continue between dirt tracks and delightful rural hamlets. The finale is beautiful: the mouth of the Nalón estuary as seen from El Castillo, with its Castillo de San Martín, before arriving in Muros de Nalón.
