We have before us a long stage that is a bit annoying for those pilgrims who have never been to Gijón. If this is your case and you want to get to know the city, you can consider including an extra night in your trip to get to know the bohemian city of Gijón in depth, or leave Villaviciosa early in the morning to arrive around midday. You decide!

You leave Villaviciosa beside the Linares river, passing the Romanesque church of San Juan de Amandi, and face the toughest stretch of the day: the climb to Alto de la Cruz, with stunning views over the Valdediós valley, the “valley of the monasteries”. After Peón and Deva you reach Gijón, a city to make the most of.
