Stage 12. Melide – Arzúa (14 km)

Information

Arzúa, known for its cheese and Jacobean history, offers a charming old town surrounded by green landscapes, perfect to explore on foot or by bike.

This stage is part of the The Primitive Way. Would you like to walk it with your accommodation already booked? These organised trips include it: Camino Primitivo from Oviedo to Santiago de Compostela and Primitive Way from Lugo.

A short, pleasant stage, with some moderate elevation change and, above all, extraordinary Atlantic forests. On reaching Ribadiso de Abaixo, one of the prettiest corners of the Camino awaits: if the weather cooperates, take a dip in the river. You finish in Arzúa, with every service and an unmissable stop: its Denominación de Origen Arzúa-Ulloa cheese. Don't leave without trying it!
