Information

Today we will leave Lubián to officially enter Galician lands, after climbing the natural barrier of Alto de A Canta (1.265 m of altitude), 17 kilometres before arriving to A Gudiña. Despite the slope, the stage is pleasant and runs through a rural and mountainous environment. We will not find many services, so it is advisable to leave Lubián with everything you need.

We leave Lubián crossing the lower part of the village and continue along a downhill track towards A Gudiña, and take a beautiful road that leads us to the Sanctuary of Tuiza. We cross the river and climb up to the pass of A Canda (1,265 metres), the border between Castilla y León and Galicia. We momentarily take the road to access A Canda, cross the village and go out on the road, which we leave on the left. We ford the stream das Hortas and arrive at Vilavella (Concello de A Mezquita), where there is a bar 30 metres from the Camino.

We descend and cross the Vega de Pontón stream over a bridge, walking along a pleasant dirt track, with the Pereira river on our left.

We arrive at the hermitage of Nuestra Señora de Loreto, continue along the road and enter the village of O Pereiro. We get back on a beautiful path that leads to a local road. We cross the train tracks again and follow the signs until we reach O Cañizo.

We have 4 km to go to the end of the stage. We cross O Cañizo and come out onto a dirt road that takes us to the national road. Cross the motorway, go over a viaduct and take the path to the right, which runs alongside a photovoltaic power station. We return to the national road and enter A Gudiña, our end of the stage.

To consider

Important. From A Gudiña to Ourense we will not find more ATMs, so we are interested in getting cash in Lubián. During the stage there are no services until 10 kilometres into the stage, in Vilavella, so we recommend that you leave well stocked with food and water. The most difficult part of this stage is the ascent to the Puerto de A Canda ( 1,265 metres). Even so, the slope is gentle, we gain 310 meters in approximately 4 kilometers, from the Tuiza Sanctuary.

The ascent to A Canda is not suitable for cyclists, who will have to climb the pass by the national road N-525. From the Sanctuary of Tuiza we must cross the motorway by an overpass and go up the national road to follow it to the left. Road and path meet at the top.
