Stage 5. Fisterra – Muxía (31 km)

Information

Today we continue beyond the end of the world and we set course from Finisterre to one of the most beautiful villages of the Costa da Morte, Muxía. If the previous day we enjoyed the lighthouse of Finisterre, today we will be even more impressed, if possible, with the beauty of the Sanctuary of Virxe da Barca. A place where contemplating the force of the waves breaking against the cliff is a spectacle.

As for the route, we face a stage that runs through rural areas, dirt roads and the occasional slope.

We will find pilgrims doing the route in the opposite direction, towards Finisterre.

And for those who find 30 kilometres too much effort, we recommend splitting the stage and spending the night in the beautiful town of Lires.

This stage is part of the Route to Finisterre and Muxía. Would you like to walk it with your accommodation already booked? These organised trips include it: Camino to Finisterre and Muxía (A Picota) - 116 km and Way to Finisterre and Muxia.

From magical Finisterre you head towards Muxía along the Costa da Morte. The path crosses villages and woodland to Lires, the only village on the stage with services and a great spot for a break. Then you climb up to Facho de Lourido, the highest point, and descend to Lourido beach, with Muxía already in sight. On arrival, order your Muxiana and head to the sanctuary of A Virxe da Barca, facing the wild Atlantic.
