Stage 3. A Picota – Cee (21 km)

A Picota is the capital of the municipality of Mazaricos, in the Xallas region, and lies just over a kilometre off the official route of the Camino to Finisterre and Muxía: many pilgrims detour here to sleep, because accommodation is scarce in these hills. The stage rejoins the route and adds up to 21 kilometres, first through Corzón, with its church of San Cristovo and its wayside cross, and then crossing the Xallas river at A Ponte Olveira.

Once in the municipality of Dumbría the path grows solitary: open moorland, granaries (hórreos) and a handful of houses. At O Marco do Couto, an old crossroads with a wayside cross, the sculpture of the Vákner has stood since 2022 — the beast that the Armenian bishop Martyr of Arzendjan claimed to have encountered here in the 15th century. The final descent to Cee is short and steep. You'll find it all arranged in the Camino to Finisterre, 90 kilometres.

The longest stage of the way to Finisterre, though without any great difficulty: over 30 kilometres of purely rural scenery, through meadows, native woodland and small villages of friendly people. Just before arriving, the descent from Monte Aro rewards you with beautiful views of the A Fervenza reservoir. You finish in Olveiroa, a renovated rural spot famous for its centuries-old hórreos (granaries). (If there is no accommodation, the stage ends earlier, at A Picota.)
