44 kilometres of steady climbing up to the Alto del Perdón, the day's high point, with its famous row of iron pilgrims and spectacular views. After the obligatory photo, a steep descent to Uterga and a gentler profile on to Estella (Lizarra), a town bathed by the Ega river, known as the "Toledo of the north." Get lost in its old town before resting.
