Stage 5. Quiroga – Monforte de Lemos (35.4 km)

In today's long stage we leave Quiroga and head for Monforte de Lemos, a place of great Jacobean tradition, located on the banks of the river Cabe, considered the capital of the Ribeira Sacra for being the largest of the municipalities in population. Due to the length of the stage, we recommend leaving early in order to take it easy.

A long stage crossing the heart of the Ribeira Sacra. From Quiroga you pass San Clodio and Carballo de Lor and climb to the O Castro da Lama pass, an old Roman gold working. In A Pobra do Brollón a picnic area by the river awaits you for a breather. Then the Cereixa stone cross with its carving of Saint James the Pilgrim, the Alto da Serra and the final descent to Monforte de Lemos.
