Despite not being a very long stage, it is one of the toughest of the Northern Way by bike from Irún, especially the climb from Villaviciosa to Gijón. The main highlights are in the coastal paths at the start of the stage.
You will leave Ribadesella along paths towards the beautiful Playa de la Vega, always full of surfers. You will continue riding along the coast passing Playa del Arenal de Morís and Playa de Espasa, from where you will take the road inland. When you reach Colunga, it is worth taking a detour to Lastres to visit the village. Once in Villaviciosa, you can make the first stop of the day before facing the big climb. You will leave behind the detour to Oviedo and begin to ascend on a secondary road. Once you crown the summit, it is time to descend to Deva and savour the remaining kilometres towards the beautiful city of Gijón.
