Now pedalling through Cantabrian lands, you will bid farewell to Laredo taking a boat to Santoña. The other alternative is to go to Colindres, but it is not worth it as the route lacks charm due to the presence of industrial areas.
After passing Santoña, not without first tasting its famous anchovies in a second breakfast, you will continue quietly towards the villages of Güemes and Somo. From the Somo pier you can decide whether to take another boat and cross the estuary to Santander or go around it on a 20 kilometre longer route.
