First day on the Northern Way by bike from Irún! You will start pedalling out of Irún towards Hondarribia to warm up by climbing Mount Jaizkibel on its southern slope. On the way up you will be able to see the old towers of Erramuz and Santa Bárbara until reaching the summit. You will continue downhill to the beautiful town of Pasaia, where you will have to take a small boat to cross the estuary.
A few kilometres later you will reach San Sebastián, a city you will cross along a comfortable bike lane, enjoying La Concha beach. A very good place to stop and relax with a swim or enjoy some pintxos.
After the stop, you will continue to Zarautz on a slightly tough section, especially if you carry panniers. You can also continue by road. Once in Zarautz, it's time to relax and enjoy a good meal in one of its restaurants. This town is also known as the "queen of beaches" for hosting one of the most beautiful beaches of the entire Cantabrian coast. So don't forget your swimsuit.
