This stage is particularly tough if you decide to follow the original route of the way, however it can also be done on alternative roads with little traffic.
The Camino heads towards Bolívar and Munitibar until reaching Gernika, where you can make the first stop of the day. After having something and taking a walk around the Tree of Gernika, you will continue on a very tough ascent to Larrabetzu. You will leave the town on a good road until Zamudio. After crossing the motorway, you will enter an increasingly steep path that will make you get off and push in some sections. Once in Bilbao, you can breathe, look for a terrace and enjoy a pleasant afternoon tasting its wonderful pintxos.
