Information
The stage between A Rúa de Valdeorras and Quiroga runs through a quiet natural environment, where the river Sil will continue to be our travel companion. Once in Quiroga, we will continue to be surrounded by a natural environment of great value, remember that we are at the foot of the Sierra do Caurel.
Today we leave A Rúa de Valdeorras to go to Quiroga. We will cross the Roman bridge of A Cigarrosa towards the town of Petín. Afterwards, our route will continue for a few kilometres along the national road towards Monforte de Lemos.
Once we arrive at Albaredos, we will continue along the side of the village towards the church of Santa Bárbara, to head towards Montefurado. Montefurado owes its name to the modification made on the course of the river Sil in the 2nd century, with the aim of favouring the gold mining exploitations.
This fact led to the piercing of the mountain, in order to modify the course of the river, hence “Monte furado” (“pierced mountain”).
From here we will continue in the direction of O Ermidón, to later continue towards Bendilló, passing through Os Novais and O Castelo, before arriving at the end of the stage in Quiroga.
To consider
The stage between A Rúa de Valdeorras and Quiroga will be especially complicated for the bikers with panniers. Especially difficult will be the uphill stretch from Montefurado to Ermidón and the descent from Bendilló. The best recommendation is to always follow the LU-933 road, which runs through pleasant surroundings with hardly any traffic.
