Do you want to do the Camino de Santiago but you don’t have many days? Now you can do the last 110 kilometers of the French Way from Sarria in only 4 stages.

You will walk through lush forests of chestnut and oak trees, millenary witnesses of the passage of the pilgrims to Compostela. Hórreos, hermitages and cruceiros will guide your steps through green meadows and small villages that reveal the importance of agriculture in Galicia.

You will have at your disposal all the necessary services for an experience of ten, including the best recommendations of bars and restaurants where you can taste the real Galician gastronomy accompanied by a cold Estrella Galicia, the best reward at the end of each stage.

A way to disconnect, learn, reflect, get to know yourself better and improve yourself, but also to laugh, fall in love, make friends… and above all to get hooked. Because once you do it, you’ll only have one problem, and that’s that you’ll want to do it again.

Travel Itinerary

You will start your French Way from the historic town of Sarria, in the province of Lugo. A place where you can enjoy a first day strolling through its streets, discovering its monuments or relaxing in one of its terraces enjoying a lively pilgrim atmosphere. Let yourself be invaded by the thousands of sensations and emotions of nerves and joy that you will experience as soon as you arrive. And to rest, tomorrow the adventure begins.

Well, now we’re off to our first day as pilgrims! You will start your French Way by walking the first stage from Sarria to Portomarín, an easy and pilgrim-friendly itinerary. You will cross rivers and forests and find small churches and villages, with plenty of places to stop and have a drink. Pilgrims say that this is one of the most beautiful stages of the French route, so you know, lucky to start here. As soon as you arrive on the banks of the river Miño, you will find the charming village of Portomarín, resplendent with its white houses and slate roofs. An end of stage that you will fall in love with and that keeps a secret under the waters of the reservoir. All you have to do now is relax and enjoy!

One thing is clear: it is very likely that you will not want to leave Portomarín this morning. This small town has a “je ne sais quoi” that hooks people like a magnet. It is probably because of the charm of its streets, the good atmosphere and how nice its people are.

On this day you will head to Palas de Rei, a stage with some unevenness in which you will combine road and mountain along 25 kilometres. During the tour you will discover the Castromaior site, a good example of a settlement of the ancient inhabitants of Galicia. Once in Palas de Rei, you will have the opportunity to visit several archaeological remains of the megalithic culture such as dolmens, as well as mámoas and castros. As you can see, Palas de Rei will offer you a very didactic stay about this land.

This is the longest stage of the French Way within the Galician community, 29 kilometres separate you from your destination, so we recommend taking it easy and enjoying the surroundings, as it is also one of the most beautiful stretches of the route. Already in the province of A Coruña, dirt roads, lush forests and medieval bridges will guide your way to Santiago de Compostela.

For every pilgrim it is obligatory to make a stop in Melide, capital of the Galician octopus; in any of its many pulperías you will be able to taste this delicacy of the Galician gastronomy. After recovering your strength, the last kilometres will not involve much effort and once you reach Arzúa you will have the rest of the day to rest body and mind.

Once you get to Arzúa, you should not miss tasting the typical cheese to which it gives its name: Denomination of Origin Arzúa-Ulloa; accompanied by other typical products of the area.

If you do not wish to walk the 40 kilometres of this stage, we offer a free taxi service that will pick you up in the morning from your accommodation in Arzúa to take you to the small town of Santa Irene, located just 20 kilometres from the Plaza del Obradoiro.

Once you arrive at Monte do Gozo, you will discover that pleasant sensation when you first see the towers of the cathedral. A perfect panoramic view before savouring your last kilometres and making the triumphal entrance to the Plaza del Obradoiro.

You are in Santiago! Feel happy and proud to have completed your Camino de Santiago. Now we just need to pick up the Compostela certificate and enjoy an incredible day getting to know the Galician capital.

Congratulations! You have completed your French Way from Sarria in 4 stages. This last day you are in charge, you can go back home or enjoy one more day in Santiago. And how beautiful is Compostela.

Did you know that all roads end in Finisterre? If you have been left with the desire to walk and you have 5 days more, we encourage you to complete the 5 stages from Santiago to Finisterre. The most magical and spiritual route that hides real treasures such as Ponte Maceira, one of the most beautiful villages in Spain or the extraordinary sunset of the Finisterre lighthouse.

The Camino de Santiago on your own includes the following services

  • Accommodation
  • Luggage transport
  • Dossier with information about the stages
  • Pilgrim's credential
  • On-the-road helpline
  • Travel insurance

In addition, you can customize your trip by adding the following optional services

  • Breakfast or half board
  • Private transfers to the start of the stage from Santiago de Compostela or from the airport.
  • Extra night at the beginning or end of the stage

Unlike the group trips, no bus service, guide or support vehicle is included between stages. But you will have a 24-hour hotline where you can contact us in case of any problem or unforeseen event, which we will solve quickly.

Yes, you will have total freedom to choose your departure date. However, if you want to do your Camino de Santiago in the months of December, January and February, we recommend that you check availability before making your reservation. At this time of year most accommodation is closed and many services may not be available.
In your travel documents, you will find the names of the accommodations assigned to you, as well as their contact telephone number and location.   As a general rule, all accommodation is located in the centre of the different towns along the Pilgrims' Route to Santiago de Compostela, without the need to deviate too far from the route. But sometimes, due to lack of availability, it is possible that some accommodation may be a little far from the village or even in neighbouring towns.   For all the accommodations that are at a considerable distance from the route of the Camino, we will provide you with a free taxi service that you can use to get to your accommodation and return to the Camino the next morning.   In any case, these are exceptions that we will inform you at the time of booking.
Luggage transport service by default is included in all our trips and it is not necessary to request it. You will be able to do the Camino de Santiago without your luggage on your back with the peace of mind that your suitcase will be at your next accommodation on your arrival.   Along with your credential you will also receive stickers, which you must cover with the requested information and stick it in a visible place on your suitcase.   Once you have arrived at your accommodation, we recommend that you ask at reception where you can leave your luggage. You will have to leave your luggage at the indicated place first thing in the morning for our carrier to pick it up. This way, when you arrive at your next accommodation your luggage will already be there.
We have a taxi service that you can hire whenever you need it. You can hire it, for example, to go from the airport to the start of your Camino, or to go from Santiago to your starting point to pick up your car once you finish the stage.   The price of the transfers will depend on the distance from your point of origin to the destination. If you have any questions about this service do not hesitate to contact us.
We include a compulsory insurance with each trip that will cover you for any inconveniences that may arise during the Camino de Santiago. We will send you the insurance policy together with your travel documents.
The basic travel insurance included in our packages has a wide coverage against unforeseen events, with which you will also have guaranteed medical assistance and numerous benefits that you can consult in the General Conditions of Travel Insurance.

In your travel documents you will find an emergency telephone number where we we are available on the road when you need us. This way you will travel with peace of mind knowing that one of our companions will help you to quickly solve any problem, incident or doubt that you may have along your Camino de Santiago.
