The Silver Route or Mozárabe route is one of the oldest known paths. It is a way that crosses Spain from south to north. This is the longest of the ways to Santiago, we offer the possibility of doing it from Ourense. This journey is considered one of the most beautiful, and it is one of the favorites of experienced pilgrims around the world.

Arrival in Puebla de Sanabria

Puebla de Sanabria is a beautiful village where you can discover the structure and architecture typical of the houses in this area. You should visit the Castle of the Counts of Benavente, one of the best preserved in Spain, and the church of Nuestra Señora del Azogue. We recommend you arrive in time to visit the Natural Park of Lake Sanabria.

Puebla de Sanabria – Lubián

You will initiate your Path from the beautiful locality of Puebla de Sanabria, heading towards Terroso. Later you will arrive at Requejo and the route will run through wooded paths until arriving at Padornelo. From an altitude of 1300 meters you will continue towards Lubián by the Alta Sanabria.

In Lubián you can visit the castro of As Muradellas and the glacial valley of Fraga de Osa. You can also visit the Sanctuary of La Tuiza, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest, the church of San Mamés and the Cortello de los Lobos.

Lubián – A Gudiña

You will start walking across Lubián in its lower part, until crossing the river Tuela and arriving at the Sanctuary of Tuiza. From here you will begin the ascent towards the port of A Canda, entering Galicia after crossing it. Before arriving at A Mudiña,

In A Gudiña, you will be able to get to know the typical architecture of the villages of the eastern Galician mountain, get to know the typical crafts of the place and enjoy the rich Galician gastronomy for the first time along the way. Courage pilgrims! the goal is getting closer and closer.

A Gudiña – Laza

From A Gudiña your way will pass through Serra Seca, an area where you will be able to see many abandoned villages. From here you will reach Venda Do Espiño and Venda de Teresa, to later enter Vilariño de Conso. Walking around the Invernadoiro Natural Park, you will approach Campobecerros and cross it to the small village of Portocamba.

From here you will begin an ascent until arriving at the Cross of the Pilgrim, from where you will begin to descend until As Eiras. The last stretch of the stage crosses the river Cereixo to reach Laza, the end of the stage. the town of Laza is well known in Galicia for its tradition of “entroido” (carnival). Here you can visit the church of San Juan de Laza and enjoy a good Galician stew to regain strength.

Laza – Xunqueira de Ambia

You will begin the stage by heading towards the village of Soutelo Verde and then arriving at the place of Tamicelas, where you can visit the hermitage of Our Lady of the Assumption. From here you will ascend the Monte Requeixada to Alberguería (900m) and then Vilar de Barrio, from where you will descend through forest paths to the valley of Allariz.

Before arriving at Xunqueira de Ambía, you will walk between agrarian places, the village of Bóveda and paths surrounded by oak groves. In Xunqueira de Ambía you can visit its collegiate church of Santa María la Real, founded in the 10th century, and also its Romanesque church, which has an organ from the 18th century. But above all, you can enjoy the landscape and the wonderful natural environment that surrounds you.


In Ourense you will finish a path that may well be the beginning of many. This last day will dawn with a road more in your lives, but not a road of miles, but of experiences, emotions and new friendships.
