Arrival in Logroño
The traveler is responsible to arrive at the given accommodation on the chosen date. This day is a good chance to visit the city and to rest.
Logroño – Nájera
We start our journey leaving Logroño to continue along a paved path to climb up to the Alto de la Grajera. Our next destination at this stage will be Navarrete. We will see the ruins of the ancient hospital for pilgrims of San Juan de Acre. Finally, we will follow the road surrounded by vineyards. We will walk to Alto de San Antón and follow the dirt path until the end of the stage.
Nájera – Santo Domingo de la Calzada
We are facing an easy stage, with almost no ground irregularities. We will walk surrounded by agriculture fields typical of the region. After a few kilometers we will arrive in Azofra. After we will continue to Cirueña and follow the valley until La Degollada. Once there we are almost in Santo Domingo de la Calzada, our destination.
Santo Domingo de la Calzada – Belorado
We will leave Santo Domingo crossing the bridge built over Oja River to continue the road. Crossing wheat fields we will arrive at Redecilla del Camino. After this point, we will follow the asphalted road on the way to Castildelgado. A few kilometers later we will arrive in Viloria de la Rioja and Villamayor, shortly after we will reach Belorado, the end of the stage.
Belorado – Atapuerca
We are facing the hardest and longest stage of this itinerary. The landscape change to mountains, we will have to climb to Montes de Oca. The first village we will encounter is Tosantos, followed by Villambistia. We will continue to Villafranca and continue the asphalt road to San Juan. The next point will be Agés. At the exit of this village we will cross the bridge over Vena River and arrive in Atapuerca.
Atapuerca – Burgos
This is the last stage, even if its short, we recommend to start walking early to take advantage of the day in Burgos. As soon as we leave Atapuerca, we will climb a slope to continue to Orbaneja. The road will pass near the towns of Cardeñuela and Villafría where we will connect with the pilgrims of the Basque Country. To finish we will enter at the beautiful city of Burgos with its majestic Cathedral.
